Katy and I spend Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at the Austin City Limits Music Festival downtown at Zilker Park. It was HOT. Like, blazing sun and 95 degrees hot. And crowded. Like, 215,000 over the three days and 75,000 people on Saturday crowded.
But, there were a ton of bands there to see and we had a good time and took some photos.
Here's Zilker early on Friday when it was basically empty. It's amazing how few people were there (and how green the grass was).

After a while it started to fill up, but this was probably only half the number of people that showed up on Saturday.

First up was The Killers. They basically played their whole first album and were good despite being one of the first shows of the day and during some blazing sun.

Broken Social Scene was up next. I'm not a huge fan, but they were entertaining with their larger-than-usual band (four guitars, I believe).

Franz Ferdinand was the last band we saw on friday and they were great live. Though they're a bit blurry because it was pretty dark, I like the first one anyway.

Saturday started with Modest Mouse.

It was really hot while they were playing, until the Best Cloud Ever showed up.

Sunday started with Elvis Costello. We managed to get a good spot and he was unsurprisingly good live.

Okay, at this point I should probably explain that there's this dude called Beatle Bob, that has a haircut kind of like the Beatles, that wears bad suits and dances around kind of like a crazy man. Evidently it's not just an ACL thing...he does this at other shows. And that's about all I know.

The last show of the festival was Cake who were really excellent live. Casual, fun, involved the audience a ton, and the crowd was REALLY into it. The last shot features a freakishly blurred Beatle Bob dancing on stage with them.

Very nice picture of you and Katy! Glad you had a good time. The only name I recognized was Elvis Costello. I'm too old.
